Nate Curry — “Show Me”

The immensely talented Nate Curry returns with “Show You,” the lead single from his upcoming joint LP with young production legend Cassio. This short and sweet joint combines smoldering synth lines with Curry’s mellow vocal prowess for a track meant to remind us that showing goes way further than talking. Tight Knit drops May 30th

IshDARR — “Holy Moly”

Milwaukee might be out of the playoffs, but IshDARR is just heating up. The young Cream City rapper’s single “Holy Moly” is hype as any record he’s delivered to date and should sound extra sweet bellowing out of car windows all summer long on Wisconsin Ave. Need the album asap.

Oba Rowland — “Dear Choppa”

For the second week in a row, Oba Rowland delivers a high-end heater. After a late-night friendly remix last go round, “Dear Choppa” is a familiar flip with a vivid story that finds the Detroit rapper and his family in one of the most undesirable spots possible. Concept songs FTW.

Ashoka — “Get Out Your Way”

Occasionally our biggest enemy is in the mirror. On “Get Our Your Way,” Ashoka tackles traveling, string-heavy production for a track that reminds us we’re all a work in progress and the people who excel most are the ones most comfortable with self-critique. Sounds like a certain Chi-bred rapper-turned-professor to me.

billy woods & Kenny Segal — “Soft Landing”

The exquisite visual for “Soft Landing” might lure listeners in, but the free-flowing steam train of thought from billy woods will keep them. The NYC-based spitter sounds extremely ill atop producer Kenny Segal’s guitar-based speaker knocker, and with such clear chemistry, I’m looking forward to riding out to the rest of the duo’s recently-released and highly-praised Maps LP. Stream in full here.

Skipp Whitman Feat. Junior Lledo — “COLOR BLOCK & SUEDE WASH”

Skipp Whitman keeps cranking out the jams and only gets better with time. Word to his new single, “Clock Block & Suede Wash,” which features an extremely fresh hook from Junior Lledo. This 90s-themed jam feels like one of the more refined releases from Skipp to date and is definitely a rotation ready record, depending where you listen.

YGTut — “On Site”

Late last year, YGTut’s dad — who is a pastor in Chattanooga — went viral when a fight broke out in the middle of his sermon. To highlight the unexpected moment, Tut has delivered “On Site,” a two-tiered track about staying ready to protect ourselves at any time, in any place.

Nick Varcity — “Downtown”

Being “Downtown” in Detroit means you’re in the middle of the action. Nick Varcity has lived in the heart of the 313 his whole life and now the Cartier-friendly renaissance man is putting that big city cache on wax with this new stand-out from his recently-released album Q1: Spring Collection.
