With music easily made and readily shared by artists every day, there are hundreds of high quality songs that fly under the radar. Every week, @BEWARE4 scours the web to weed out the dimes from the duds and share the wealth via BEWARE’s Block, a collection of buzzing tracks from artists currently breaking ground in their respective genres.

OhGeesy — “Blame Me”

When Shoreline Mafia went their separate ways a few years back, OhGeesy saw the spotlight shift as an opportunity. “Blame Me” finds the Cali king reveling in his recent solo spike, placing all weight on his shoulders, simply because he can handle the burden. When the production is this priceless and his flow is this flawless, nothing can stop the OG.

Big Sad 1900 x IAMM — “Circles On Figueroa St”

West coast rap has always been my favorite. There’s something special about the juxtaposing blend of breezy sonics and brazen braggadocio that has had me in a trance since the days they still rapped about smoking sherm. Big Sad 1900 is the latest bright spot from Cali, delivering a player anthem in “Circles On Figueroa St” that slides into your stereo so smoothly it just might charge your CashApp. This record is the epitome of LA rap IMO and once Sad supplies Spotify with the drop, I’ll spinning on repeat.

LOS KEMET — “Barter 7 (Dig Dat)”

Believe it or not, Young Thug is an OG and veteran in the game who has inspired a generation of MCs. Although the latest single from LOS KEMET feels derived from a southern lineage a few decades prior, KEMET’s new “Barter 7” single finds the transient rapper paying homage to Thugger in various ways, delivering a bouncy rider anthem while in motion.

Nick Varcity — “Better Made”

In Michigan, we take pride in staying “Better Made.” From the Carhartt clothes trending across the globe to the cars driving America, the home of the Motor City embodies an after hours spirit that does whatever is necessary to deliver the best product possible. Nick Varcity encapsulates that well-oiled push throughout this flossy stand-out from his new Q2: Summer Collection. The whole project feels fresh out the detail shop, so once you’re ready to hop in the whip, stream in full here.

Chase Murphy Feat. Maari — “Waitin On You”

While Chase Murphy has been living the fast life the last few years, he’s taken the slow burn en route to his debut album, Never In Debt, Forever Indebted. Good call. After releasing double digit loosies, multiple EPs, and various high-end features, the MASS kid has finally dropped his first full-length, filled with nine tight tracks that range from sly and braggadocios (an updated “Race” with Nessly) to more mellow and lady-friendly (“Waiting On You”). Every track is polished to perfection and there’s really no fat on the bone here, which is always ideal. Stream in full here.

Rokkai — “Fuss!”

You hear that? What’s all the “Fuss!” about? Oh shit, that’s just this juicy new jam from Rokkai, who appears to be a cool, casual gentleman with tight flows, comfortable concepts and wicked wordplay that feels effortless. Everybody might be needy as fuck — like the record says, but you need to hear this record right now, you needy fuck.

Kipp Stone — “18 The Hard Way”

For Kipp Stone, “18 The Hard Way” brings the receipts — for both himself and others. In order to remind everyone growth is the only way up, this blazing new offering from the Cleveland spitter hones the spirit of E. 1999 for a record about learning to train our demons so we can build atop hardships and climb even higher.

GRIFF! Feat. WIL$ON & Matt Fischer — “Dream Uh U”

The kids are asleep and the lights are low. “Dream Uh U” is playing from the Bose at 55% volume, as candles are being lit in surrounding rooms. Sips are being taken. The spliff is being lit. Wil$on, GRIFF! and Matt Fischer have set the mood and the rest is up to you.

Ta-Ku & JMSN — “Call My Name”

All hyperbole aside, the last time Ta-Ku and JMSN linked, they delivered one of my favorite songs of the last decade (“Love Again”). The latest release from the always-welcomed duo is “Call My Name,” a slow-burning freak in hiding that finds the gifted Michigan singer steaming up Ku’s advanced instrumental in ways only he can. When you’re ready to float down the river of sensual solitude, turn this one up and ease on in.
